About the Library
The Younes and Soraya Nazarian Library at the University of Haifa is a central academic library serving the research and teaching needs of all faculties and programs. It is one of the largest academic libraries in Israel and one of the most progressive Israeli libraries in the realm of services and technology and library information systems. staffed by a team of motivated professionals offering services supported by advanced technology and information systems. Anyone may use the library's services and collections in-house. Remote access to electronic and digital resources is available to the university's faculty, staff and students. opening hours are announced on the Library's Web site. The Library collection comprises over two million items, including books and periodicals (in printed and digital formats), online databases in a variety of disciplines, maps and other cartographic material, films, audio
recordings, pictures and archival material. In addition the library initiates and focuses on the development, digitization and preservation of special collections, such as dissertations, faculty research publications, historical photographs of the Land of Israel, archives of Israeli theater and performing arts. These are accessible online on the library's website, subject to viewing permissions designated by the copyright owners.
Children's Library and Literature – serves as a research and teaching laboratory to explore and compare personal reading preferences and needs of children. Workshops to promote reading and information literacy are held for children and parents from the community. All Library items may be searched and retrieved by means of "OneSearch" - a unified search box in the Library web site.
Circulation service

Reference services
We offer a variety of services to assist patrons in using library resources: the reference desk at the library entrance floor, remote assistance, instructional videos, online tutorials, and special trainings for advanced courses. Reference librarians offer researchers support in using citation management software, in evaluating journal ranking and with citation count, and reference support in research projects. Assessment and measurement activities
Since 2007, the Library has regularly carried out assessment and measurement activities aimed at determining the quality of its services based on user feedback. For this purpose, a number of activities are performed, including surveys, audits and focus groups. These examine varied aspects of the Library's services: the physical environment, identifying user needs, collection evaluation, evaluation of user interfaces to the Library's content and services – both within the Library and via remote access.
